Nếu pha không đúng, không đủ 1 lít nước cho 1 gói bột oresol ta sẽ có dung dịch oresol đậm đặc hơn yêu cầu (có tính ưu trương). Trong cơ thể dung dịch muối - nước trong và ngoài tế bào thường có nồng độ như nhau, nếu uống dung dịch nồng độ muối cao (dung dịch ưu trương) thì cũng giống như ăn canh mặn, nước trong tế bào phải thoát ra ngoài để cân bằng và tế bào bị mất nước sẽ rất có hại.
